1 killed, 12 injured in Tianjin gas explosion in northern China – Times of India

BEIJING: One person was killed and 12 others injured in a gas explosion at a six-storey residential building in China’s port city, officials said. tianjinstate media said on Wednesday.
One stranded man, who was evacuated at 5:40 pm on Tuesday, more than 10 hours after the morning blast, had weak vital symptoms and died after being taken to the hospital. Tianjin Daily Report posted on social media by Tianjin government.

Tianjin, a major port and manufacturing hub, is less than an hour from Beijing by high-speed train and has long been one of China’s most developed and international cities.
The cause of the explosion is being investigated, but the infrastructure appears to have declined after more than three decades of economic growth. The Tianjin Daily reported that the building was built in the 1980s.
