10 killed by stabbing in Canada; Police released pictures of 2 suspects

New Delhi: At least 10 people were killed and 15 injured in multiple stabbings in two communities in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, police said on Sunday (September 4, 2022). James Smith was stabbed in several places in the Cree Nation and the village of Weldon, northeast of Saskatoon.

RCMP Saskatchewan Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore said there are 13 crime scenes where dead or injured people were found.

Police said they had last received information from the public that the suspects had been seen at lunch in Saskatchewan’s capital, Regina. However, since then such scenes have been seen.

“If in the Regina area, use caution and consider seeking shelter in place. Do not leave a safe location. Do not approach suspicious individuals. Do not pick up hikers. Report suspicious persons, emergencies or information to 9-1-1 Do not disclose the police locations,” the RCMP said.

Police have also released photographs of two suspects. Damien Sanderson, 31, was described as five feet seven inches tall and 155 pounds, and Miles Sanderson, 30, was described as six-foot-one and 200 pounds. Both have black hair and brown eyes and are “probably driving a black Nissan Rogue”.

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the attacks in Saskatchewan were “horrible and heartbreaking”.

“I am thinking of those who have lost a loved one and those who have been injured,” he said in a tweet.

“We are monitoring the situation closely, and urge everyone to follow updates from local officials. Thank you to all the brave first responders for their efforts on the ground,” Trudeau said.
