An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by six minor boys in Jharkhand’s Khunti district on Tuesday night. Police have detained six accused, whose age is between 10 and 15 years. Report in Times of India.
What happened?
According to the police, the girl had gone to attend a wedding in a neighboring village. During a dance program, she got into an argument with boys she already knew.
“When she was returning home with her two friends around midnight, the boys following her stopped her, took her to a secluded place and gang-raped her. Two of her friends fled the spot with her mother. – Informed the father. Soon after, the parents came looking for him but the boys fled after seeing them,” said the police.
Case registered
Hearing what happened, the girl’s family initially hesitated to file a police complaint because of the social stigma.
Finally, on Thursday, the family lodged a complaint with the police and the police started investigation. Six accused were taken into custody and sent to the correctional centre.
