12,737 gamblers arrested in Krishna district, 3,265 bound overs in 2021

Krishna district police topped the state in controlling the Investigation Tracking System (ITSSO) for gambling and sexual offences. Police registered 10,818 cases under the AP Gambling Act and arrested 12,737 people.

3,265 criminals were taken hostage in 2021 as against 1,811 last year. Krishna Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kaushal said the bind-over percentage has increased by 64 this year.

Releasing the annual crime data for the year 2021 at a press conference here on Thursday, the SP said that this year 746 suspects were opened against 746 suspects this year as against 347 in 2020.

“Directions have been given to take strict action against gambling and other illegal activities. Police recovered Rs 1.96 crore from suspected gamblers during raids. Similarly, 1,054 cases have been registered against 1,220 gutkha sellers and hoarders, And stock worth ₹1.25 crore has been confiscated,” said Mr. Kaushal.

The police have registered cases against 1,651 people this year in connection with crimes against women. The victims registered several cases through Disha App, AP Police Service App and Spandana.

The district police was at the top in the investigation of sexual offense cases under the Investigation Tracking System for Sexual Offenses (ITSSO).

Incidents of for-profit murder, dacoity and home burglary have come down, Mr. Kaushal said. One robbery and murder for profit, 22 house burglary during the day and 100 house burglary in the night were reported this year, up from 32 and 105 respectively last year. He said that the police registered 432 caller crimes, which was 463 in 2020.

Under the Disha Victim Assistance Programme, 7,557 persons have been identified in Krishna, out of which 4,478 were given medical aid, 105 were given legal aid, 2,388 victims were given welfare assistance, 99 persons were provided security and police Provided financial assistance to 179 victims.

The police solved two sensational cases of kidnapping of children, rescued the children safely and handed them over to the parents. Mr. Kaushal said that the best performance awards were given to 15 women policemen and policemen who have rendered exceptional services during the weekly best performance awards programmes.

Police raided ID liquor manufacturing dens, registered 1,026 cases against 1,093 persons. Altogether 5,420 cases were registered against non-duty paying liquor (NDPL) smugglers from Telangana. He said ganja weighing 1,239 kg, worth Rs 29.35 lakh was seized and 175 suspects arrested.
