132 injured as Coromandel Express derails in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore (Odisha) [India]June 2 (ANI): At least 132 people were injured when the Coromandel Express derailed near Bahnaga station in Odisha’s Balasore on Friday.

Odisha Chief Secretary said that the injured have been shifted to Soro CHC, Gopalpur CHC and Khantapada PHC.

The first 22-member NDRF team from Balasore Railway Station (BLS) has already reached the spot. Another 32-member Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) team started half an hour earlier, officials said.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed Minister of State Pramila Mallick and Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) to rush to the accident site immediately. The minister and SRC are on their way to the spot.

Odisha’s Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) along with senior officers Hemant Sharma, Balwant Singh, Arvind Agarwal, DG Fire Services have been sent to the spot to supervise relief operations following the train accident at Bahanaga. Medical colleges and all hospitals in and around Balasore have been put on alert. SCBMC also alerted 3 NDRF units; According to Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner, Odisha, 4 ODRAF units and 60 ambulances were mobilized. (ANI)
