Delhi recorded 1,333 fresh COVID-19 cases on Saturday, the highest single-day increase in a month, with a positivity rate of 8.39 per cent, while three more people succumbed to the viral disease, here The data shared by the health department shows.

The daily count of coronavirus cases also crossed the 1,000-mark for the fourth day in a row, while the positivity rate in the city was above five per cent for the eighth day in a row. In the last one week, the cases of Kovid have increased continuously.

Delhi recorded 1,245 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday with a positivity rate of 7.36 per cent and one death. Delhi had recorded 1,128 COVID-19 cases on Thursday with a positivity rate of 6.56 per cent and zero fatalities.

With the fresh infections, the number of Covid cases in the national capital rose to 19,54,508, while the death toll rose to 26,311. A total of 15,897 tests were conducted on the previous day for the detection of COVID-19.

Delhi currently has 4,230 active cases, up from 3,844 on the previous day. 2,654 COVID-19 patients are in home isolation.

According to official figures, the city had seen 1,891 cases on June 26.

As on June 15, 1,375 Covid cases were reported in the national capital, while the positivity rate stood at 7.01 per cent. On June 14, it had recorded 1,118 cases and two deaths, while the positivity rate stood at 6.50 per cent.

Delhi on Wednesday reported 1,066 fresh COVID-19 cases, with two fatalities as well with a positivity rate of 6.91 per cent. A day earlier, it had reported 781 fresh cases along with two fatalities with a positivity rate of 6.40 per cent.

It had recorded 1,109 cases with a positivity rate of 5.87 per cent and a fatality rate as on June 29. Delhi had recorded 1,422 cases and zero fatality rate on May 8, while the positivity rate was recorded at 5.34 per cent.

As on June 20, 10.1 per cent of the total samples tested turned out to be Covid positive.

Out of 9,402 beds reserved for corona virus patients in Delhi hospitals, only 268 beds were occupied on Saturday. The latest bulletin stated that beds in covid care centers and covid health centers were lying vacant.

It said that there are currently 170 containment zones in the city.

Delhi has reported a few cases of Omicron’s ba.4 and ba.5 sub-versions, which are highly transmissible, but experts have asked people not to panic as these sub-types do not cause serious infections.

The number of daily COVID-19 cases in Delhi touched a record high of 28,867 on January 13 during the third wave of the pandemic. The city had recorded a positivity rate of 30.6 per cent on January 14, the highest during the third wave of the pandemic.
