1,350 new cases in Surat, 20% increase Surat News – Times of India

Surat: The number of cases reached a new high on Friday 1,350 in the city, while State Bank of India’s Ghod Dod Road branch has been ordered to remain closed for seven days after 14 of its employees tested positive.
On Friday, 102 positive cases were reported in Surat district. “The growth rate in the number of cases is likely to be in the range of 20 to 25 per cent for the next few days. The situation will gradually improve once this phase is over,” said a health official.
At present, the health department is conducting 20,000 tests daily and the number of positive cases is likely to remain stable at 20 to 25 per cent till the growth peak. “The hospitalization is also less as compared to the earlier waves and the condition of most of those admitted is not critical,” an official said.
A total of 98 college and school students tested positive, out of which 15 are from LPD School in Poona region, 14 from Ankur Vidyalaya in Qatargam and nine from Chhatrapati School in Limbayat.
Sangam Apartments in Athwa has been declared as a cluster zone after five people of the same family tested positive on Friday. In Varachha A, Varsha Society has been declared as a cluster zone after seven persons from the society tested positive. The society was declared a cluster zone after four people from the same family tested positive in Nature Valley of Limbayat.
