Noida:

Noida Traffic Police on Friday created a green corridor to facilitate the movement of a human organ amputated over a distance of about 14 km in 14 minutes for a life-saving transplant operation, officials said.

Senior traffic officer Ganesh Prasad Saha was alerted that the organ has to be shifted from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi to Jaypee Hospital in Noida, officials said.

“However, the challenge was to make the amputated limb available at Jaypee Hospital in Sector 128 within a time limit. It was a race against time,” said an official.

A police spokesperson said, “DCP Traffic Saha had assigned the responsibility of coordinating the movement to Traffic Inspector Ashutosh. He immediately reached the Chilla border adjacent to Delhi, while a green corridor was immediately built on the way and the ambulance reached the hospital in 14 minutes.

Due to the promptness of the Noida Traffic Police, one person’s life was saved, the spokesperson said, adding that the patient’s family members were overwhelmed with gratitude for the support personnel.
