Varanasi : After the inauguration of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham (Corridor), Kashi Vishwanath Temple has registered a remarkable jump in its monthly revenue which is now crossing Rs 5 crore mark.
In May this year, the temple received a donation of Rs 3.24 crore as against Rs 21 lakh in May last year – a jump of more than 15 times.
Sunil Kumar Verma, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust said that with the increase in the number of devotees after the expansion of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, a significant increase in donations has also been registered.
According to him, a donation of Rs 71 lakh was received in April 2021, while in April this year, the temple received a donation of Rs 5.45 crore.
After the inauguration of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the number of devotees is increasing continuously and the income of the temple is also increasing. Apart from this, the increase in the number of tourists is also proving beneficial for the local artisans and traders.
One of the dream projects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham was inaugurated by the PM on December 13 last year. The PM had laid the foundation stone of the project on March 8, 2019.
According to the records, the first phase of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 339 crore.
A total of 23 buildings were inaugurated in the first phase of the project, providing various facilities to the pilgrims, including Yatri Facilitation Centre, Vedic Centre, Mumukshu Bhavan, Bhogsala, City Museum, View Gallery and Food Court.
The project involved the purchase and acquisition of over 300 properties around the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple. The project is now spread over an area of about five lakh square feet, whereas earlier it was limited to around 3,000 square feet.
More than 40 ancient temples, which were rediscovered during the demolition of old properties, have been restored and beautified, leaving no changes to their original structures.
The earnings of Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which was affected due to the COVID-19 induced lockdown, is now back on track and is increasing rapidly due to a significant increase in the influx of pilgrims after the opening of the Kashi Vishwanath Dham (corridor) for the general public. . ,
