16% of eligible teens get a jawbone; 1,259 new cases of Kovid in Gujarat | Vadodara News – Times of India

Ahmedabad: On the first day of Kovid vaccination for the age group of 15-18 years, Gujarat Till 5 pm, 4.94 lakh adolescents were vaccinated. Since the state has around 30 lakh beneficiaries across age groups, the state achieved coverage of about 16% of the population on the first day of vaccination.
Meanwhile, daily Covid cases continued their upward climb – in the 24 hours ending 5 pm on Monday, Gujarat added 1,259 cases, the highest in the last 215 days. This was a 30% spike compared to 968 cases on Sunday. Out of the total, 631 or 50% of the cases were reported from Ahmedabad city alone. Active cases crossed the 5,000 mark at 5,858 after seven months.
Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel launched the vaccination campaign in the state on Monday morning from a school in Koba near Gandhinagar.
A senior official of the state health department said, “More than 700 schools across Gujarat set up camps to vaccinate students.”
