17 buffaloes hit by goods train in Karnataka

Mangaluru:

A total of 17 buffaloes died after being hit by a goods train near Jokate Angaragundi on Sunday midnight.

Railway police sources said the goods train was on its way from Kankanadi station to Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF) when the incident took place.

Fire and rescue service personnel from Qadri, who rushed to the spot, succeeded in rescuing three buffaloes. The rescue operation lasted for three hours.

Sources said it has been learned that the animals died after falling into a ditch after being hit by the train.
