Police said the youth has been arrested and the girl was released from prison on Friday.

Police officer Praveen Singh said the teenager was allegedly abducted by a youth from a neighboring village on January 16 and a case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s father.

The officer said that the accused was arrested on Friday from near Bharauli bridge in the same police station area and the girl was also rescued.

The girl has given a statement that the accused had abducted her from Varanasi, where she was raped several times.

SHO Singh said that based on the statement, the police have added more relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act in the case.
