19.8k score 100 percentile in CUET, highest in English, Political Science – Times of India

New Delhi: A total of 19,865 candidates secured 100 percentile in 30 subjects in the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2022. English had the highest 100 percentile at 8,236, followed by Political Science (2,065) and Business. study (1,669). As per the latest indications, the result is likely to be declared early Friday morning National Testing AgencyAfter the agency failed to meet its deadline of 10 p.m. Thursday.
Other subjects that recorded more than 1,000 candidates with 100 percentiles were biology, economics and psychology, indicating that these six subjects are likely to have higher cutoffs for college admissions. A total of 14,90,293 candidates had registered for the tests, of which 9,68,202 (60%) appeared.
Undergraduate admissions in 90 participating universities will be based on CUET-UG results. The other subject with more than 100 percentile was Hindi (875), accounting work (422), Geography (326), History (893) and Sociology (261).
Initially, all the stages of CUET-UG were scheduled to end on August 20. However, the exam was pushed ahead and divided into six stages due to several glitches. The exam was conducted from July 15 to August 30 in 20 days and 38 slots. The computer-based tests were conducted in 489 test centers located in 259 cities across India and in various combinations in nine cities for 27 subjects, consisting of 2,219 question papers in 13 mediums.
The first edition of the exam faced technical glitches as well as problems. The tests were postponed in around 60 centres, most of them in Delhi-NCR.
NTA released the provisional answer keys for the challenges from September 8 to 10, 2022, which were then placed before the subject experts for verification. The results are to be declared on the basis of the final answer key.
Points are not being awarded. Instead candidates are being assigned a percentile for each subject chosen on the basis of their score in that paper, which was “normalized” to reflect their performance in that subject in all the sessions conducted in that exam. The results will contain a percentile series for each paper, which is called the Equipercentile method. This is expected to take care of the difference in the level of difficulty in the tests, as per the evaluation process.

While CUET-UG recorded 60% overall attendance, Delhi recorded the highest attendance with around 80%, while the North Eastern Region states, especially the hill states, recorded around 35% attendance. CUET-UG candidates have applied for 54,555 unique combinations of subjects for admission to 90 (44 Central, 12 State, 11 Deemed and 19 Private) universities.
