2021 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo Review | – times of India

New Delhi: Meet the mid-life facelift of the fourth generation BMW 6 Series. BMW’s Gran Turismo is a distant rival of the E-Class, which turns out to be Mercedes’ best-seller.
The GT was conceived with a slightly different ideology. The Gran Turismo or Grand Tourer is meant to be a capable and comfortable mile-munching machine – a prospect still bleak in our road conditions. Moreover, once a hot selling proposition in the global markets, BMW is gradually replacing the 6 Series with the highly demanded SUVs.

Petrol variant price starts from Rs 66 Lakh and Diesel price starts at Rs 69 Lakh (ex-showroom). BMW India wants to attract potential 5 Series buyers with a distinctive taste and is not ready to expand to the grand 7 Series.
The 2021 facelift brings a slew of new colors to choose from. The design cues remain largely the same as before the facelift.
Trapezoidal exhaust tips are standard and the only noticeable change at the rear. Attention to detail, frameless doors and active spoiler illuminate the charmingly shimmering profile. Up front, the bumper has been re-profiled to accommodate the wider grille. In addition, customers do not need additional to LED laser lights, which are now a part of the fitment.

The 6 GT continues to come in two diesel and one petrol engine options. The only retunings are in the form of offering twin-scroll turbochargers for the diesel, however, they do not affect the output figures. The 630i M Sport, which we drove, is fast, engaging and exciting to drive, and the drive is well balanced thanks to the twin-axle air suspension. An 8-speed automatic gearbox sourced from ZF carries out the transmission duties.

The cabin is luxurious, well-crafted, and has rear seat seating. Truly, the 6 GT pampers the gentleman in you. Dedicated tablets for rear passengers will keep you hooked or otherwise seen through the spacious panoramic sunroof.

Modifications to the facelift model are in the form of a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, which sits atop the flush dashboard. Worry less as BMW has finally introduced Android Auto compatibility for the infotainment. On the expected line, the 6 GT graces your drive with 4-zone climate control, 360-degree camera and wireless charging. The only other noticeable change is in the form of Reversing Assistant feature, which relieves the driver from reverse duty up to 50 metres.
