2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC The dimensions have increased in comparison to its predecessor. The length of the SUV is now 4,716 mm, which is 60 mm more than the old model. The wheelbase of the SUV has also increased by 15 mm to 2,888 mm, thereby freeing up more space inside the cabin of the SUV. While the width of the SUV remains unchanged at 1,890 mm, the tire track is now 6 mm wide and 23 mm wide at the rear, which will help in providing better driving dynamics. The international version of the SUV also sits 4 mm lower, but we will have to wait and see how it gets re-adjusted to suit the Indian roads once the new GLC is here. All these changes in dimensions and design have also helped in the drag coefficient (C.)D) fell from 0.31 to 0.29.

On the outside, the GLC retains the DNA of the older generations, while adopting an all-new design. Unlike the bigger units on the previous model, the new-gen model gets much sleeker LED taillamps. The SUV also gets a significantly longer overhang, which gives a different shape to its tail section and frees up an additional 70-litre boot space over its predecessor. Boot capacity is now 620-litres, and can be increased by folding down the seats, which can be split 40:20:40.

The new-gen GLC also gets an all-new interior design, and borrows a lot of design cues and features from its sedan sibling, the C-Class. The SUV also gets a dual screen setup on the dash board which is running on the latest generation MBUX operating system.

Mercedes-Benz will launch the new-gen GLC only with the hybrid engine. At launch, the SUV will be offered in 6 different configurations globally. There will be 3 plug-in hybrid drivetrains, two of which will be petrol and one diesel, and so on will be offering 3 mild-hybrid engines. The displacement of all the engines is 2.0-litres, but each combination offers a different set of power and torque output figures. The plug-in hybrid variant will be equipped with a 31.2 kWh battery pack, which according to Mercedes will offer an all-electric range of over 100 km, making it ideal for daily city runs. The battery can be charged from 0-100 percent on the 60 kW DC fast charger in just 30 minutes, and can even charge itself using the engine if it runs out on the go. However, it is not confirmed which engine options will come to India.
