2022 Royal Enfield Hunter 350 vs Honda CB350RS and TVS Ronin: How is it fair? – times of India

Royal Enfield 2022. all set to launch Hunter 350 Motorcycles for India. The bike is RE’s entry into the premium urban scrambler segment, which has seen a lot of action recently. In terms of design, performance and features, the Hunter 350 will compete with the Honda CB350RS and the recently launched TVS Ronin. Here’s a comparison of three motorcycles for your perspective.

Like some other models of the RE Stable, the Hunter 350 also gets a dual-tone color scheme on the fuel tank. The engine, exhaust set up and 17-inch permitting wheels are all finished in black. The upswept single piece seat and circular headlamp design give it a proper scrambler look.
On the other hand, the Honda CB350RS is the class senior as it was launched back in February 2021. It shares the platform, components and much of its design with the H’ness CB350. However, it also gets a dual-tone fuel tank, a tuck and roll seat and an upswept exhaust. The engine and other mechanical peripherals have been finished in black, with the exception of the clutch housing and exhaust heat shield.
TVS Ronin can be considered lighter in this comparison, but only in terms of cubic capacity. In terms of design, it is at par with the other two motorcycles with a single-tone, dual-tone color scheme. It even has the upper hand with the choice of triple-tone color schemes on offer. The Ronin also gets a single-piece tuck and roll seat, circular headlamps, blacked out engine and 17-inch alloy wheels. What sets it apart from the other two is the gold-finished upside-down Showa front forks that give it a sporty appeal.

Royal Enfield has powered the Hunter 350 with the same J-series engine that we have seen on duty in the Meteor 350 and Classic 350. The 349 cc SOHC two-valve air-cooled engine makes 20.2 hp and 27 Nm of torque. It is paired with a five-speed transmission which might be a consideration for many buyers.
On the other hand, the Honda CB350RS gets a 350cc engine in the form of H’ness. The air-cooled, 4-stroke, fuel-injected OHC engine produces 20.8 hp and 30 Nm of torque, making it more powerful than the RE on the spec sheet. It also gets Honda’s PGM-FI fueling system. However, the RE has distinctive long-stroke architecture and reportedly a tweaked fuel map for lively throttle response.
TVS Ronin is the least powerful motorcycle when compared to its 225.9 cc engine. It is on par with the other two in the performance figure, as the single-cylinder produces 20 hp and 19.93 Nm of torque. Where Ronin races ahead of RE and Honda with its slipper clutch is in the clutch department.

There Hunter 350 Features Conventional 41mm front forks and 130mm travel twin shock absorbers at the rear. It gets dual-channel ABS with 300mm disc at the front and 270mm disc at the rear. RE has gone with an off-set instrument cluster for the Hunter 350 and a smaller tripper navigation pod is also on offer. The instrument cluster is semi-digital and provides rider information like gear position, service reminder and more. The Hunter 350 also comes with an integrated USB charging socket.
The Honda CB350RS is also well-appointed with features like assist and slipper clutch, selectable torque control and dual-channel ABS. The CB350RS gets 19-inch alloy wheels and allows 17-inch at the rear. It has all-LED lighting at the front and rear. Rider information is handled by a digital-analog instrument cluster that provides real-time mileage, average mileage and empty distance.
In terms of features, the TVS Ronin also gets LED lighting at the front and rear. As mentioned earlier, it gets SHOWA upside down forks up front and a gas-charged mono shock at the rear. This makes the Ronin the only motorcycle to sport this type of suspension installed in this comparison. Ronin’s digital instrument cluster comes with 28 connected features, including the company’s SmartXonect connectivity suite. It also comes with voice assistant, USB charger and auto start/stop feature (a first for any Indian bike).
