The fifth generation of Lexus RX has added new variants as well as new color options to its range. The new platform allowed Lexus to make significant changes to the overall dimensions of the crossover SUV, freeing up extra space inside. Additionally, the Japanese carmaker has added a new performance pack to its RX 500h F Sport, which makes it sportier than ever.

The Lexus RX also elevates its stance with a larger set of 19-inch alloy wheels, which are finished with body-coloured over-fenders in a dark gray machined finish. Lexus is also offering a pair of 21-inch alloy wheels. In profile, the rear door is reminiscent of a 3D effect. The black panel on the C-Pillar looks attractive. At the rear, the 2023 Lexus RX now looks wider, thanks to the signature L-shaped light bar lamps around the sides of the body. Lexus is offering the 2023 RX in 10 exterior paint schemes – Ultra White, Eminent White Pearl, Nebula Gray Pearl, Iridium, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Copper Crest, Nori Green Pearl, Nightfall Mica and Grecian Water.

Inside, the 2023 Lexus RX’s cabin follows a human-centered design with controls for convenience. A prime example is the door opening with the touch of the E-Latch system. The cabin comes in several options – Macadamia, Black, Birch, Palomino, Peppercorn and Rioja Red. The roominess element is emphasized by the sunroof while the ambient lighting enhances the overall feel. For the driver, Lexus offers a 14-inch touchscreen display with steering mounted controls, a HUD, and navigation.

The new GA-K platform has cleverly freed up space from the inside, without any real change in its proportions. However, the distance between the front and rear seats has increased resulting in extra legroom for the rear passengers. The wheelbase has increased by 60 mm, but the rear overhangs have now been reduced by 60 mm. The crossover is now 90 kg lighter and this is mainly due to the optimization of the chassis components. The rear of the platform features an all-new multi-link suspension design, connected to a rigid high-torsion rear body frame that stiffens travel during acceleration, deceleration and steering moments.

With the 2023 model, the Lexus RX gets a hybrid powertrain, a first in the segment. The company is offering two electrified powertrains and a turbocharged unit. The RX 350 comes in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive set-up, which is powered by a 2.4-litre turbocharged inline-4 engine that develops 272 bhp and 430 Nm of peak torque, which is produced by 8 -Speed is paired with an automatic transmission. The 2023 Lexus RX 350h is powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged engine that develops 242 bhp and 316 Nm, mated to an 8-speed CVT unit. The third high-performance variant is the 2023 Lexus RX 500h F Sport Performance, which makes 361 Bhp and 550 Nm of peak torque from a 2.4-litre turbo-charged hybrid motor. This unit is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds, which is slower than its rival Audi Q7 but faster than the BMW X5.
