He also asked BJP workers to reach out to the people and “expose” the alleged corruption and wrongdoings of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the city.

The Delhi BJP’s two-day executive committee meeting ended on Saturday with Union minister Anurag Thakur asking party workers to “uproot” the Aam Aadmi Party in the 2025 assembly elections.

He also asked BJP workers to reach out to the people and “expose” the alleged corruption and wrongdoings of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the city.

The second day of the executive meeting, held at the Ambedkar International Center here, featured ‘Chanda Vadyam’ players from Kerala playing special instruments and Vande Mataram rendered by Shabana Rahman.

Thakur, in his address, said the BJP’s Delhi unit has enough workers and capable leadership to end the “corrupt and chaotic” Arvind Kejriwal government’s rule in the 2025 assembly elections.

He further claimed that the Kejriwal government’s “spell” on the city’s residents was waning, a development he said he witnessed during the campaign for the recent Delhi MCD elections.

“We have to create awareness about the work done by Narendra Modi Government among the people in the national capital and victory will be ours, first in 2024 Lok Sabha elections and then in 2025 assembly elections.”

Appreciating the work done by the Centre, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said that projects worth over one lakh crore were taken up in the country in the last eight years, from road infrastructure in Delhi to fighting pollution. He said that the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has renovated the Yamuna riverfront and the Lieutenant Governor has started the work of cleaning the Najafgarh drain.

Thakur called upon party workers to reach out to the public and convince them that the Yamuna has been polluted by the Kejriwal government during its eight-year rule.

He said that to fight air pollution in the city, the central government has approved 150 electric buses under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme.

On the saffron party’s defeat in the recent civic polls, Delhi BJP working president Virendra Sachdeva admitted that if the temperament of party workers was “a little stronger”, the party would have done well.

He also urged the party leaders to contribute and help present a beautiful image of Delhi to the visitors and foreign dignitaries during the G-20 summit later this year.

Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Vidhuri moved a political resolution during the meeting.

Moving the resolution, Bidhuri criticized the Kejriwal government on a number of issues, including “deceptions and failures” on the fronts of employment, Yamuna and air pollution, old age pension and water supply.

BJP national general secretary Sunil Bansal stressed on improving communication with voters and projecting the party’s image concerned with the welfare of poor people.

“We have to improve our communication with people, especially the poor. Those who are getting benefits of government schemes have to be brought into the mainstream of the party,” he said.

He said that the demography of Delhi is changing and the party has to connect with every section of the society. Bansal said, “We have to give leadership opportunity to every section and we have to do this work fast. Delhi BJP will have to prepare programs according to local conditions and sentiments.”

Delhi BJP MPs Meenakshi Lekhi, Manoj Tiwari, Ramesh Vidhuri, Parvesh Sahib Singh, Hansraj Hans and Gautam Gambhir Presented the report on his parliamentary work during the meeting.
