207 candidates complete training for entrance test for sub-inspectors, constables

In all, 207 people from Dakshina Kannada and neighboring districts, who are willing to appear for the written test for the posts of police sub-inspectors and constables, completed their one month free training here on Friday. The training was organized by Mangaluru Police Commissionerate.

The training was organized to enable the candidates from Coastal and Malnad belt to join the police force. In the last 11 years, only 65 people from Dakshina Kannada have joined the police force.

At least 734 people had shown interest to take the training, which Police Commissioner N. Presented by Shashi Kumar. 207 were selected after the screening test. While 162 trainees were from Dakhina Kannada, the remaining 44 were from Udupi, Uttara Kananda, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga.

The training was offered by recently recruited 23 PSI, PC and Canara College Assistant Professor Prashant Bhat. The training was at the Gonzaga School campus in St. Aloysius. While most of the trainees were at St. Aloysius Institute and Shanti Kiran’s hostel, some were accommodated in other facilities nearby.

Pawan Kumar of Shirdi said the training had given him orientation on preparation. “The instructors help us to focus on subjects like history and general studies, which lead to more number of questions,” he said. Pavitra SB of Sulia taluk said the trainers were practical in their approach, which was missing in her earlier coaching at a private institute. Suresh Bangera of Bala of Udupi’s Karkala taluk said the instructors showed him how to prepare for competitive exams.

Dikshita from Puttur said that the discipline and dedication of the trainers has inspired many of them to join the police force. Gayatri, another trainee, said that the motivational talks by the trainers at the end of each day of the training program were helpful.

PSI Birdar PM of the 2018-batch, one of the 23 trainers, said the training focused on subjects that have to be better prepared for the trainees in the written test, which was getting tougher every year since 2018.

Pattadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala D. Virendra Hegde presented mementos to the trainers and the police officers involved in the programme. Mr. Kumar said.

Superintendent of Police Hrishikesh Sonawane, Superintendent of Police Anti-Naxal B. Nikhil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Hariram Shankar, BP Dinesh Kumar and Channaveerappa Harapad participated.
