Road and Building Principal Secretary MT Krishna Babu said on Saturday that Rs 2,500 crore is being spent on renovation and repair works as nearly 8,000 km of roads were damaged due to heavy rains last year.

A new system of paying all bills of road contractors within a week of completion of work is being devised, and it will be implemented soon, he said, adding that efforts are being made to improve the quality of roads. Huh.

For each of the two districts, a Chief Engineer was appointed to monitor and quality check the projects.

4289.255 km of highways were being laid in Kalyandurg, Dharmavaram and Anantapur divisions, of which 3174.915 were state highways.
