Aizawl: Mizoram School Education Minister Lalchandma Ralte said on Friday that 28 Myanmar refugees who took refuge in the state have passed the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination. A special test was conducted for refugees who completed class X.
Ralte said more than 6,000 young refugees were admitted to schools across the state after fleeing conflict zones in Myanmar following a military coup in February last year.
“The students of Myanmar were provided free textbooks and school uniforms by the Mizoram government. Like other students of primary and secondary schools in the state, they were also provided free mid-day meals,” he said.
Around 300 Myanmar students cross the bridge over the River Tiau in Champhai district to attend schools in Zokhawthar and surrounding villages, following violent clashes between local civil resistance groups and the Myanmar military.
