29,471 new Kovid-19 cases reported in Kerala, 824 deaths in toll

Over 29,471 people tested positive for Covid-19 Kerala In the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative case tally to 63,23,378, the state health department said on Tuesday.

Among the 14 districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of cases with 5,676, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (5,273), Kottayam (3,569) and Kollam (2,806). The remaining districts reported less than 2,000 cases.

Of the new cases, 232 were health workers, 92 were from outside the state and of 2,184, 26,963 were infected with the source unclear.

The southern state had recorded 22,524 Covid-19 cases on Monday.

Moreover, the death toll in Kerala rose to 59,939 from the previous day, when 824 deaths were reported.

A total of 28 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, 205 were such that occurred in the last few days but were not recorded due to late receipt of documents and 591 after receiving an appeal on the basis of new Covid-19 designated as deaths. With 46,393 more people being cured of the virus since Monday, the total number of cured people has gone up to 59,79,002.

As the number of recoveries exceeded the number of new Covid-19 cases, the active cases in the state came down to 2,83,676. The number of active cases stood at 3,01,424 on Monday.

At present 4,51,107 people are under observation in various districts, out of which 4,42,162 are in home or institutional quarantine and 8,945 are in hospitals.
