3 terrorists killed in anti-terror operation on outskirts of Srinagar, says police

New Delhi:

Police said three terrorists, including one involved in an attack on a police bus earlier this month, were gunned down by security forces during an overnight encounter on the outskirts of Srinagar. He said three policemen and a CRPF jawan were injured in the firing at Pantha Chowk.

One of the slain terrorists has been identified as Suhail Ahmed Rather, who was involved in an attack on a police bus near a police camp in Zewan on the outskirts of Srinagar, in which three policemen were killed.

With the recent operation, the police said that all the terrorists involved in the deadly attack earlier this month on a bus carrying Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police personnel have been eliminated.

This is the third encounter in 36 hours and the number of terrorists killed has gone up to nine.

Earlier, six terrorists, including two Pakistani nationals, were killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag and Kulgam districts.
