30 times more likely to land in ICU without vaccination: Karnataka war room chief

“Unvaccinated people are 30 times more likely to land in the ICU,” the head of the Karnataka COVID-19 War Room said.

Bangalore:

Karnataka COVID-19 war room analysis of infections in the last seven days from January 1 to January 7 showed that unvaccinated people were 30 more likely to land in the intensive care unit, an official said on Saturday. times higher.

Munish Moudgil, head of the Karnataka COVID-19 War Room, said the unvaccinated people are 10 times more likely to manifest the COVID infection than those who are vaccinated.

“Vaccinated people are 30 times more likely to land in an ICU or High Dependency Unit (HDU),” he said in his analysis.

He explained the method of arriving at the conclusion.

According to him, 97 percent of citizens vaccinated and three percent unvaccinated, ideally if both were equally vulnerable to COVID, for every 100 COVID cases or hospitalized cases, 97 people should have been vaccinated and three should have been unvaccinated.

“But, there are proportionally 10 times the number of unvaccinated COVID patients and 30 times more than expected in the ICU,” Mr. Moudgil explained.

The IAS officer concluded, “Vaccination definitely helps a lot in avoiding COVID complications and all eligible must take it.”

Regarding the possibility of the overwhelming majority of fully vaccinated patients, Moudgil said many of the hospital’s usual beds may be out of precaution on their own. He said the actual number of people in the ICU would tell the actual comparison.
