4 forest workers injured in tusker attack on jeep Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: A forest officer and three forest workers of Bandipur Tiger Reserve sustained minor injuries after their vehicle was attacked in the early hours of Friday.
Deputy Range Forest Officer (DRFO) KP Amar and staff Madappa, Shivu and Rajanna suffered minor injuries but were lucky to survive the tusker’s attack.
Forest officials said the incident happened around 6.30 am in Niralla area of ​​Omkara forest area of ​​Gundlupet forest division when they were trying to take the elephant back to the forest.
However, the irritated elephant suddenly hit the jeep. The tusker attacked the vehicle with his teeth and overturned it. Despite suffering minor injuries, the forest workers managed to scare the elephant away and saved its life.
Gundlupet ACF’s Parmesh and Omkar RFO HN Nagendra Nayak reached the spot. The injured employees were treated at the forest office and a case was registered at Beguru police station.
ACF’s Parmesh told TOI that the area where the incident took place is a man-elephant conflict zone.
