4 to 88 lakhs of gold was robbed due to the debt of Kovid. Rajkot News – Times of India

Rajkot: Due to the desperation to repay the loan due to Kovid-19 infection, four people of Indore robbed gold worth Rs 88 lakh from a Rajkot jeweler who was traveling in a bus last week.
Surendranagar police arrested Hidayat Khan Pathan, his wife Razia, daughter Alisha and nephew Ehtesham after they were brought here on a transfer warrant. He was arrested on the basis of the details given by
Trader Shailesh Patoria, who regularly sold gold jewelery to Pathans, and cctv pictures,
Police said Hidayat was infected with Covid-19 and 50% of his lungs were infected. He had spent around Rs 40 lakh for the treatment, for which he had borrowed money. Hidayat’s brother Hayatkhan died during Kovid-19.
Hidayat used to do silver business in Indore and knew that Patoria used to visit Indore regularly to sell jewellery. Patoria used to go to Indore to show the designs to various traders and Hidayat was aware of this.
Hidayat decides to steal the gold bag to pay off his debt along with his family and the four accused come to Rajkot.
Local crime branch police inspector MD Choudhary said, “He also kept two women with him so that no one suspects him. Ehtesham booked a ticket in the same bus in which Patoria was traveling and the other three members were following the bus in a car.
When Patoria went to rest, Ehtesham stole the bag, got down and fled in Hidayat’s car. Ehtesham and CCTV footage were also available with the police.
