A four-year-old girl is recovering after being shot outside the Norway House Cree Nation home.

Norway House RCMP responded to a report of gunfire fired from an ATV cruise in the community at around 11:30 on Tuesday night.

Mountis arrived at the scene shortly after and was informed by witnesses that two people were operating an ATV in the area at the time of the shooting.

Police say officers and EMS heard several gunshots at the scene.

Additional officers joined the team on the spot and conducted extensive neighborhood inquiries, which led to the identification of two suspects.

The RCMP says a 16-year-old man was located at his residence and was arrested without incident.

He is in custody while police are continuing to search for another 19-year-old male suspect.
