Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that the state government is revamping the entire education scenario and closing the schools with zero enrollment. He said that the number of government schools in the state has increased from just three to over 3,000 since independence, but the quality of education has not shown the desired increase.

Inaugurating the permanent campus on Tuesday, Khandu said, “We have so far closed around 400 zero enrollment schools across the state and one school in each of the 60 assembly constituencies as a model school with all facilities. decided to develop. An official release said the chief minister called upon community-based organizations to visit their areas and recommend which schools could be closed and which schools could be merged into one.

“Let us combine the remotely located schools into one and focus on its development with proper infrastructure and adequate teachers,” he said. The new permanent campus of the college is located on the outskirts of Bomdila city, district headquarter, in a plot of 70 acres. Khandu thanked the villagers for donating the land for the permanent campus and said that the newly built infrastructure in an ideal environment at some distance from the city would encourage the students to focus more on education. He informed that the government is aware of the lack of both manpower and infrastructure in the 19 government colleges of the state, which are affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University, the only central university in the state.

“Apart from 19 government colleges, which cater to more than 15,000 students, we have nine private colleges and two technical institutes – Northeast Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) and NITs,” he said. Khandu said that at present there are 478 assistant professors teaching in 19 government colleges while about 400 more are needed, besides there was a shortage of about 110 staff in these colleges.

He directed the Education Commissioner to personally bring it on file for the recruitment of the said manpower in the cabinet meeting to be held in December. Khandu assured, “We will take up the matter in the next cabinet meeting and approve the recruitment of required manpower through Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB).”

For the demand of proper internal roads in the campus, increasing the admission capacity of boys and girls hostels and starting of science stream, he urged the concerned authorities to act on it and submit it to the government at the earliest for further action. called upon. and approval. Khandu accepted the request for college buses as the new campus is about six to seven km away from the main city and caters to over 700 students.

“Since my wife is an alumnus of this college, she has offered to provide any help or support for the same. As a return to her mother institution she has decided to donate a bus for the college,” he said, adding that another bus would be provided by the state government.
