5 out of 7 teachers in custody in Karnataka SSLC question paper leak case

Seven people, including a school principal, a journalist and four teachers, have been detained in Magadi taluk of Karnataka’s Ramanagara district. Accused of leaking recently concluded SSLC or 10th exam question papers, police sources said. Sources said they were picked up from different schools.

The exam was conducted in March and April and the results were declared recently. However, recently it was learned that question papers were leaked at many places. The police questioned the headmaster, who plucked the beans. Based on their statement, police detained six others and some of them may be arrested soon, the police said.

It is learned that teachers will receive question papers at least 15 minutes in advance and then share them in their networks through WhatsApp. Quickly, answers were drawn up, and students reported the answers in advance. The detainees told the police that the aim was to ensure that no student failed the exam.

Most of the students secured distinction while others secured first division marks. A few other schools, which have also achieved similar results, are being monitored. If the school principal had shared a question paper on the teachers’ WhatsApp group, the matter would not have come to the fore. Realizing the mistake, some of them downloaded it and allegedly blackmailed the principal. A journalist, who was also detained, had also allegedly blackmailed and extorted money from the principal for the leakage. This comes after police sub-inspectors and lecturer recruitment scams.
