We all have different options when it comes to vacations! While some people prefer an action packed adventure vacation with some exciting treks and thrilling adventure sports, there are others who like to kick back and relax where they don’t have to lift a finger. Well, I fall into the second category. I prefer privacy and a digital detox to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature, interesting cocktails and delicious food, but most of all, from myself. But that doesn’t mean it’s just about relaxing on the edge of the lounger pool and sipping G&T, but it’s also about celebrating—whether at the best tables on the dance floor, with soothing live music (and the best of the world). Read: Jazz), or a see-and-see environment with friends. And when it comes to choosing the right resort, both the hospitality and the opportunity to experience the culture are important to me. I recently experienced this at the recently launched Hyatt Regency Dehradun.
Stylishly nestled amidst the picturesque Malsi forest and Himalayan ranges at the foothills of Mussoorie, Hyatt Regency Dehradun is the new fancy kid on the block that truly redefines luxury and comfort.
So, I’m taking you through my list of five reasons why you should book the Hyatt Regency Dehradun when you’re in the valley of sleep – not that you’ll need more convincing.
1. Because there are not 1, not 2, but 5 restaurants and bars to visit
It’s easy to get into a rut. In the name of work, meetings, endless household chores, and the virus, we’ve forgotten to relax wonderfully – especially when it comes to cooking. From contemporary cuisine and local delicacies to sparkling cocktails, you will find everything you could want on your luxury vacation or stay at Hyatt Regency Dehradun. I must say Sujas Namath (Director of F&B) and Sahil Arora (Executive Chef) have done a great job!
The Range: An all-day dining restaurant redrawing the culinary map of the world, with Dehradun at its center. From international cuisine to local cuisine, thoughtfully crafted menus and passionately served, this is a dining experience that is cosmopolitan, seasonal and artsy. Showcasing an artisan market with interactive kitchens, food boutiques, and alfresco seating, the range fits all the bills. My food recommendation: Try their Wheat Dal Ke Parathas and Swells, and Pahari Cucumber Raita!
Beuel: A Rooftop Bar, Lounge and Fine Dining – All in One, Beuel offers mesmerizingly intriguing cuisine prepared by regional chefs and experienced mixologists. Amidst a spectacular mountain view, it is no surprise that Beyul serves amazing Tibetan and North Indian cuisine, and since the hotel is nestled in a prime growing area – all ingredients are locally sourced from where I eat. Sky Pool Bar and Deck: If easy-drinking, relaxing and socializing are your things, head to Sky Pool Bar and indulge in some sinful cocktails; Better still, keep them in the pool. A special shout out to Akash Bisht (mixologist) – he created some interesting cocktails, exclusively G&T (see here) using local ingredients.
Malt Bar: This bespoke bar is for all the whiskey lovers. As the name suggests, The Malt Bar features a handpicked selection of ‘world whiskeys’, cigars and a drinks list that includes both classics and ‘New Age’ offerings.
Market: Open 24×7, the market (part of the range) is a one-stop-shop for all things local. You can choose from a range of artisan retail products sourced directly from local farmers and artisans. I picked out some local ingredients for my nerdy sister.
2. Because you’ll be staying in luxurious pet-friendly rooms and suites
When it is the Hyatt, you can be assured of unmatched luxury and ultimate pampering. Rooms at Hyatt Regency Dehradun are bright and airy rooms with private balconies that soak in the views of the stately forest. There are 24 Suites, 14 Deluxe Rooms, 18 Regency Suites, 37 Club Rooms with Balcony, five Executive Suites and a single Presidential Suite – take your pick! And yes, you can stay here with your four legged friends!
Much attention is paid to the sustainability and conservation of resources. These stylishly furnished rooms come with auto-sensing lights to save electricity. What’s more, the water we drink is recycled at their own water plants and offered in glass bottles.
3. Because nothing says more rest and relaxation than a luxurious spa holiday
If you’re anything like me, the very first thing you’ll do once you check in to your room is book a spa session! There’s no better way to defuse your stress than on a luxury spa vacation. Spa breaks have become increasingly popular in recent years, and it should come as no surprise why. 5. Because the hotel staff is very warm and hospitable
You cannot feel at home during your stay at Hyatt Regency Dehradun. Thanks to all the smiles and well wishes from the staff and indeed, the locals, whether you’re sitting around waiting for a meal at a restaurant or chatting with the local barman – the friendly staff make it even more difficult to pack and leave the place. And a ‘cute on duty’ (read: furry) staff member of the hotel – Lucy – who will greet you with a big hug and grab all your attention.
In my opinion, more than the food, drink and all the luxuries, it’s always the people enhancing your experience, and in this case, it certainly did. A big thumbs up to the hotel staff and management!
I would write this by saying that the holidays are where great memories are made. These fun times, exploring destinations with your family or partner, are priceless experiences that create memories. You can take that to the bank. Memory banks, obviously. It was a family trip that didn’t feel like a family trip!
