The Central Zone reported 54 fresh cases and one death on Thursday.
All nine districts in the region reported 15 or fewer cases. Fifteen people have been reported positive for the viral infection in Tiruchi. The district also reported one death. Karur reported 12 cases and Thanjavur 11.
Each of the remaining six districts reported less than five cases. Four cases each were reported in Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam, three in Mayiladuthurai, two each in Ariyalur and Perambalur and one in Pudukottai.
