55 Olive Ridley hatchlings join the sea in Kodiak

55 Olive Ridley turtles safely entered the Arabian Sea on Sunday night under the careful supervision of forest department officials and volunteers guarding the nesting sites at Kodi Beach in Kundapur.

The chicks came out of the nests one by one at 9.35 pm and continued to emerge from nests 4 (in total, 12 hatchlings) and 5 (total 43 hatchlings) till 3.15 am on Monday.

Dinesh Saranga of FSL India said that there are currently three nesting sites on the beach and volunteers are required to continuously monitor the hatchlings emerging from the two nests and ensure the safety of the third site, which is to monitor the nesting of turtles. It is one of the non-governmental organizations.
