6 magnitude earthquake hits China’s Sichuan province

After the earthquake, Luzhou City launched a Level-I emergency response and sent personnel for disaster investigation and rescue.

According to the China Earthquake Network Center (CENC), a magnitude 6 earthquake struck Luxian County in southwest China’s Sichuan province on September 16.

The earthquake occurred at 4:33 am (local time) Xinhua has news agency reported.

The epicenter was observed at 29.2 degree north latitude and 105.34 degree east longitude. The report said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km.

The earthquake relief headquarters in Sichuan has activated the level-II response, the second largest in China’s four-level earthquake emergency response system.

After the earthquake, Luzhou City launched a Level-I emergency response and dispatched personnel for disaster investigation and rescue.

In 2008, a magnitude 8 earthquake struck Sichuan province, killing thousands and injuring many others.
