GUWAHATI: 67 cadres of the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA), formed in 2019 and operating in Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong districts of Assam, laid down arms at an event held at Dhansiripar in Karbi Anglong district on Thursday.

Appreciating the positive development of the insurgents returning to the mainstream, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a tweet: “While committing himself to the dream of Prime Minister and Home Minister of a progressive and peaceful Assam, I feel this Glad to inform that 67 cadres of DNLA laid down their arms at Dhansiripar, Karbi Anglong today.”
The surrendered DNLA cadres were later taken to a designated camp.
“Some members had laid down their weapons earlier and some were there to surrender. They have surrendered today. Their issues will be raised and they will be rehabilitated,” Nath said.
Rongang told the media that the return of the cadres to the mainstream is the best decision of the cadres, respecting the Chief Minister’s call for a peaceful state. “Peace and progress is what we all want right now,” he said.
