7 Integrated check posts to be built on Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan border

7 more integrated check posts are to be set up along the Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan borders. In the 2-hour meeting held today, the Union Home Secretary has asked the Chief Secretary to work on its development.

Although there were outposts now the government plans to keep everything under one umbrella. This integrated check post will house customs and other things.

The Chief Secretary has also been asked to complete the fencing work at the earliest.

The funds required for all this will be approved on a war footing. It is clear that the central government is very serious about the border issue. West Bengal and Bangladesh have a 2217 km long border and fencing is a major problem in different areas.

Sources reveal that in today’s meeting it has been emphasized that emphasis has been laid on double fencing. Security experts say that there is a need for an integrated check post as it will help in controlling the smuggling aspect.
