73% of Millennials want to travel abroad when borders open: Report

New Delhi : With the COVID-19 vaccination campaign across the globe, nearly 73 per cent of millennial Indians would like to travel to international destinations with fewer COVID cases, said a travel sentiment tracker.

According to Business of Travel Trade (BOTT), a media platform that tracks Indian travellers’ patterns, around 67% would like to visit destinations with easier COVID policies and protocols. It said the demand for halted travel would contribute to this growth.

The majority, 66% of millennial travelers, are likely to travel to Thailand as soon as it opens. “We have started receiving queries for international travel for the upcoming holiday season, but travelers are also cautious with regard to COVID restrictions, better connectivity and selection of international destinations. It is not at all surprising that Thailand is a favorite destination for Indians who want to travel for tourism, shopping, golf, meetings or wellness purposes and I believe it is one of the first to take outbound traffic from India. will be one of Riyaz Munshi, president of the Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI).

The tracker has mapped the data of nearly 7,800 millennial travelers across the country for a period of five weeks in the months of August and September 2021. It shows that 61% of millennials will look for better connectivity when choosing international travel destinations while 27% will prefer smaller. -Haul destinations. Tracker says 38 percent of millennial travelers will base their decisions on engaging destination campaigns, highlighting their unique features and offerings.

According to the survey, 83% of millennials would prefer beach destinations for their next vacation, followed by wellness and spa destinations and staying at hotels and resorts at 65% and 53%, respectively. Interestingly, 48% of Millennials chose a golf destination and 43% of them chose a shopping destination.
