7,992 new Covid cases reported in India, active caseload dips to lowest in 559 days

Covid-19: India reports 7,992 new cases and 9,265 cured in last 24 hours. Now, active cases are less than 1% of the total cases, which is currently 0.27%; The lowest since March 2020, the Health Ministry informed on Saturday.

The ministry in its daily update said that India’s active caseload currently stands at 93,277, the lowest in 559 days.

In the last 24 hours, 9,265 patients have recovered from the infection, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,41,14,331. The daily positivity rate has also come down to 0.64%, which is less than 2% for the last 68 days.

The country reported 8,503 new infections on Friday, slightly less than what was recorded in the last 24 hours. A day earlier, the number of fresh infected was 9,419.

Meanwhile, India’s vaccination coverage has reached around 132 crores. Till Friday evening, more than 68 lakh vaccine doses had been given. The daily vaccination numbers were expected to increase with the compilation of the final report for the day.
