80% of school staff caught with at least one dose

New Delhi : Nearly 80% of teaching and non-teaching staff working in government and private schools across the country have been vaccinated with one or both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, Union Education Ministry officials said on Thursday.

The ministry on Tuesday asked states and Union Territories (UTs) to prepare a district-level action plan to expedite immunization of school teachers and ensure that all teaching and non-teaching staff employed in schools are covered under the Received at least the first dose of vaccine. in September.

Several states have already started special vaccination drives for school staff. It said that 98 per cent of teachers working in Delhi government schools have received at least one dose. Tamil Nadu announced last week that 90% of its teachers have been vaccinated.

The Center last week announced that it would provide at least 20 million additional COVID-19 vaccine doses to the states and union territories for teaching and non-teaching staff in government and private schools.

Physical classes have started to some extent in many states and union territories such as Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Assam.
