89 days later, first charge sheet filed in Kerala human sacrifice case

Kerala Police on Saturday submitted the first charge sheet in the Kerala human sacrifice case.

Officials said the police filed a charge sheet before the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court in Ernakulam in connection with the murder of Padma, who was a native of Tamil Nadu.

He was brutally murdered in the name of human sacrifice. The charge sheet is yet to be filed in the murder of another victim, Roslin.

“Three people, identified as Mohd Shafi, Bhagwal Singh and Laila Bhagwal Singh, have been made accused in the case,” officials said.

The charge sheet was filed on the 89th day after the arrest.

Officials said murder, conspiracy and kidnapping have been included as offences, while 150 witnesses have been named in the charge sheet.

The three accused were arrested by the Kochi city police on October 11 last year for brutally killing two women in the name of human sacrifice in black magic rituals.

The incident is of June 6 and September 26.

The remains of the two dead women, identified as Padma and Rosalin, were later exhumed from pits near Singh and Laila’s residence in Pathanamthitta district.

According to the police remand report, on September 26, Shafi contacted 52-year-old Padma, a lottery ticket seller, and duped her of Rs 15,000.

The report states that she had agreed and accompanied Shafi to Bhagwal Singh and Laila’s house.

“There the accused strangled her by the neck with a plastic wire and slit her throat. Shafi mutilated Padma’s private parts with a knife. Thereafter, they cut her body into 56 pieces and put them in buckets. Accumulated and buried in a pit. Detailed Report.
