Nine people – seven passengers and two crew members – were killed when a private plane crashed in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday. The plane was making an emergency landing at Las Americas airport in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic when the incident occurred.

Six of the seven passengers were foreign nationals and one was a Dominican, the plane’s operator Helidosa Aviation Group tweeted.

The plane was en route from the Dominican Republic to Florida in the US when it made an emergency landing and crashed fifteen minutes after takeoff. CNN report said.

The reasons for the accident are not yet known. More details are awaited.
