91 students from Karnataka stranded in Ukraine

According to the latest data shared by the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), 91 people from 22 districts of Karnataka are stranded in crisis-hit Ukraine.

According to district-wise information of the stranded persons till 6 am on February 25 to the control room of the disaster management, Bengaluru had the maximum number of 28. There are ten from Mysore and five each from Ballari and Hassan. Four each from Bagalkot and Chamarajanagar, three each from Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Haveri and Raichur, two each from Chitradurga, Davangere, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Mandya, Udupi and Vijayapura and one each from Kolar, Shivamogga. Huh. and Uttara Kannada.

All 91 persons are students pursuing medical courses.

“The information collected by our 24/7 control room has been shared with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Embassy of India in Kiev, Ukraine, to make all possible arrangements for the safe evacuation of the stranded students from Karnataka. In addition, foreign ministry officials in countries bordering Ukraine are at strategic locations for safe evacuation through alternate routes.

To assist in the evacuation of Indians from Ukraine, teams from the Ministry of External Affairs are being sent to neighboring countries: Hungary, Poland, the Slovak Republic and Romania.
