According to data from the World Health Organization, Omicron has a substantial “growth advantage” over the delta version of the coronavirus, Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health said today. India has seen a significant increase in the cases of Omicron in the last two weeks.
Aggarwal said the latest data from South Africa, UK, Canada, Denmark, however, suggest a lower risk of hospitalization for Omicron compared to the delta version, which had higher hospitalizations worldwide.
