Comedian Aditi Mittal’s Twitter thread on how her Ola cab driver found her missing son – and her heart-warming gesture later – struck a chord with Twitter users. In her now-viral Twitter thread, Ms Mittal revealed that she was on her way to an open mic event in Mumbai when she overheard her cab driver’s phone conversation.
“He was calling people, asking ‘Have you seen my child? Is he with you guys?’ (Have you seen my baby? Is he with you?),” revealed Aditi Mittal.
In call after call, she could hear people on the other end answering in the negative. By that time the cab driver’s three-year-old son had been missing for an hour, and his wife had gone mad with fear.
His 3-year-old son was gone for an hour by then. I couldn’t fathom how he was so controlling by then, I would have become hysterical. He insisted that he would drop me at the destination as he needed the fare. I offered to pay the full fare.

“I asked him where he lived, and whether he wanted to go home and look for his child instead of wasting his time,” Ms Mittal said. The cab driver turned down his offer saying that he needed the fare that he would earn through his ride. The comedian then offered to pay his full fare before getting down to take an autorickshaw for the rest of the journey.
“But I couldn’t stop thinking about him,” she said. “I heard him talking to his wife on the phone and she was crying so loud, I could hear her in the back seat from her phone.”
Fortunately, the missing three-year-old girl was soon found. When Ms Mittal was on her way back from the event, she got a call from the cab driver informing her that her son had been found. She said, “Apparently this three-year-old criminal had seen a Ganpati pandal and was roaming around with the procession, dancing and eating while his parents were terrified.”
1.5 hours later, as I am walking back home from the open mic, I get a call. This is the driver’s wife. They found her son, apparently this three-year-old criminal who had seen a Ganpati pandal and was walking, dancing and eating with the procession, while his parents panicked.

But this is not the end of this story. The next morning, says Ms. Mittal, she woke up to the sound of her phone ringing. It was the cab driver, waiting at the place where he picked her up with a box of hand-made nariyal modak – the sweet that is traditionally prepared during the Ganpati festival in Maharashtra.
It was learned that the Ola driver, too, had overheard Ms Mittal’s phone conversation with a friend during which she begged for homemade modaks.
“While you were talking on the phone, I heard you asking someone for coconut modak, so I told Mrs to make it for you. (While you were on the phone, I heard someone telling you that you want coconut modak, so I told my wife to make something for you),” he told her.

The Twitter thread has gone viral with thousands of ‘likes’ since it was shared on Sunday.
In the comment section, Ola asked for the driver’s details “to also congratulate our driver-partner.”
A nice ride, happy ending and delicious modaks???? This is the inspiration we needed to kickstart our Monday morning Aditi. Can you share the CRN of this ride with us via DM? We would also like to congratulate our driver-partner ️

Twitter users were impressed by the story, praising both the driver and Ms Mittal, saying they took the extra effort to help a stranger.
