In a major move to involve industry experts and professionals, the University Grants Commission (UGC) is doing away with the mandatory PhD requirement to teach in central universities. Special posts – Professor of Practice and Associate Professor of Practice – are being created. This, one diplomat says, would allow the walk to teach international relations.
