Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Thursday resigned from his Rajya Sabha seat from Maharashtra after being elected to the Upper House for a fresh term from his home state Tamil Nadu.
Chidambaram was among 41 winners elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha earlier this month.
Chidambaram said in a tweet, “After my election to the Rajya Sabha from the State of Tamil Nadu, I am required to resign from my seat from the State of Maharashtra. Accordingly, today I tendered my resignation from the seat of the State of Maharashtra.” ,
The former Union Minister said, “The Hon’ble Chairman, Rajya Sabha has accepted my resignation. I have the honor of representing the state of Maharashtra. I wish the people of Maharashtra future, peace and prosperity.”
