After adding Unit 1 at Bangladesh’s Maitri Super Thermal Power Plant (MSTPP), state-owned NTPC Ltd on Wednesday reported that its total installed capacity has reached 72,304 MW.
“NTPC Group has reached a significant milestone in the power sector with an installed capacity of 72,304 MW. This achievement includes the recent addition of 1,320 MW (2×660) MSTPP Unit-1, 660 MW, located at Rampal, Mongla , Bagerhat, Bangladesh,” the power giant said in a statement.
This is NTPC’s first overseas capacity expansion. Bangladesh-Bharat Maitri Power Company Private Limited (BIFPCL), a foreign joint venture company of NTPC Limited, assisted in the execution of the project. Unit 1 of MSTPP is now included in the installed and commercial capacity of NTPC Group after obtaining necessary parameters and permissions.
“In line with corporate disclosure requirements, we wish to inform that based on the achievement of approved norms and due approvals, Unit-1 of 660 MW of 1320 MW (2×660) Maitri Super Thermal Power Plant (MSTPP) at Rampal, Mongla, Bagerhat Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (Private) Limited (BIFPCL) (a foreign JV company of NTPC Limited) is included in the installed and commercial capacity of NTPC Group with effect from 23.12.2022,” NTPC said in a statement on Tuesday.
The Board of NTPC on Monday approved the appointment of Shri Shivam Srivastava, Chief General Manager, NTPC as Director (Fuel). “As Director (Fuel), NTPC, he is responsible for ensuring availability, affordability and safety of fuel for the development and safe operation of NTPC’s captive coal mines as well as generating stations. He is also responsible for maintaining adequate stock levels as well as ensuring timely supply of quality coal to power stations as per fuel supply agreements with gas suppliers, coal suppliers and requirement of power generation.
Shares of NTPC Limited closed today on BSE 0.11% above the previous close of 176.15 175.95.
