“A Lesson In Fighting With Grace”: Man’s Post About His Wife’s Battle With Cancer Moves The Internet

An internet user from Pakistan recently shared about his wife’s battle with cancer and how she is working and running her own part-time business while fighting the deadly disease.

going to linkedinBabar Shaikh revealed that his wife Zahra Khan was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, a highly fatal breast cancer, in January this year. He shared how he and his wife received unconditional support from their workplaces during Ms. Zahra’s cancer battle.

He said his wife had a full-time job, a booming business and was also transitioning to a new job. Mr. Babar narrated how amidst all this, he had to vacate his house and was forced to live with his in-laws because of the extra care of his wife.

“A nerve-wracking 6 months of chemotherapy made her lose hair, didn’t work for days after a chemo session, lost taste of food or water and had general fatigue and lethargy,” Mr Babar wrote in the post.

He explained that despite all the challenges, his wife did not let her reality change her life. He continued his work, although he took a sabbatical at first. Ms. Zahra also multiplied her cheesecake business and her social media presence quadrupled, all from the confines of her bed.

“A lesson in fighting grace, if ever there was one,” said Mr. Babar.

He continued, “Here’s another lesson of support. Our families, our friends and our team are at work. We got an influx of kindness from close people as well as people we were barely familiar with. A humble reminder That’s so good in this world.”

Moreover, Mr. Babar spoke not only about fighting the disease but also about his partner’s determination to continue with his office and business. “Compassion and kindness, at home and at work, go a long way. Everyone is fighting their own battle, lets create systems that can make it a little easier for them,” he concluded his post.

Mr Babar also shared pictures of him and his wife and their transition during the difficult period. The post garnered over 66,000 likes and hundreds of reshares. One user wrote, “Really good in the world 🙂 So glad you and Zahra were both so strong. I have experienced myself that mental strength is a huge factor in curing an illness.”
