Aadhaar: Want to update Aadhaar details from the comfort of home? soon it will be possible

Aadhaar Update: Unique Identification Authority of India There is good news for (UIDAI) Aadhar card holders. Base The issuing authority is going to start door-to-door services soon, which means you will not have to go to anyone Aadhaar Service Center or a post office to avail the services. This will be done through the post office, and soon you will see that the postman not only brings your letters, but Aadhaar Services to their own homes. According to a report, UIDAI is making all necessary arrangements to complete it at the earliest.

The Economic Times has said in its report that the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is training 48,000 postmen of India Post Payment Bank before starting the door-to-door Aadhaar service. In the first phase, UIDAI will train these postmen to go door-to-door in remote areas of the country. They will bring door-to-door Aadhaar services like linking your mobile number with Aadhaar, updating other details and enrolling children to issue their 12-digit ID. All this will be done when you sit in the comfort of your own home.

As per the ET report quoting a senior government official, 1.5 lakh postal officers will be trained during the second phase of the scheme. The training is being imparted to these postmen to reach out to as many people as possible through IDs and enroll them in the Aadhaar programme, which is a part of UIDAI’s expansion plan, the official said.

The person said that UIDAI will provide the postmen with the necessary digital gear including a desktop or laptop-based Aadhaar kit so that they can update the details of Aadhaar card holders or enroll children to issue their Aadhaar numbers. UIDAI is making all arrangements for smooth implementation of the scheme.

“So far, we have run pilots on IPPB postmen using tablet and mobile-based kits for child enrollment,” the official told Economic Times. “Now we will expand this so that they can update Aadhaar details even in remote areas using laptops or desktops,” he added.

Besides the IPPB postmen, the UIDAI also wants to rope in around 13,000 banking correspondents currently working with the Common Service Center of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the official said. UIDAI aims to open Aadhaar Seva Kendras in all 755 districts across the country so that all details can be updated at the earliest.

“At present we have 88 UIDAI service centers in 72 cities. There are plans to reach even the far-flung corners. We will also approach the state governments to provide space in those government premises where these service centers can be opened,” the official told ET.

On an average of 50,000 Aadhaar details updates done across the country, majority are from urban areas. The official said people from rural areas have to visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra to make changes in their details. To tackle this issue, UIDAI also plans to open a ‘mini’ Aadhaar Seva Kendra in each of the 7224 blocks of the country, which will have a necessary setup to perform these functions. “We have to find state government or municipal premises for both Aadhaar Seva Kendra and Mini Centres. We hope that the state governments will help UIDAI.
