This young entrepreneur from Chennai is on a mission to popularize fresh juice made from sugarcane, coconut and nungu with inventive sherbet and mocktails.

In 2019, EP Jeevan launched a food truck focused solely on health food, providing fresh sugarcane juice for morning walks on the Besant Nagar beach. But then the pandemic struck, and it had to be called off.

After completing his engineering degree at BITS-Pilani, Jeevan has worked with several MNCs since 2009. He has now emerged as a food entrepreneur with a mission to popularize natural sugarcane juice and traditional regional drinks among the younger generation.

“We see sugarcane juice vendors near bus stops and railway stations: the drink is affordable and accessible to all. But many of us are wary of the ice or water used in the process, or the condition of the juicer,” he says, “My idea was to make sugarcane juice in a hygienic way and in many forms. We buy sugarcane from the farmers of Erode region of Tamil Nadu. Snow apples are available for about nine months in a year and tender coconuts are available throughout the year. While soft coconuts are sourced from all over Tamil Nadu, snow apples come from Villupuram, Puducherry and Kerala. ,

Growing up, state-level athlete Jeevan says he spent long hours at his school and college playgrounds. While returning home from practice, stopping for sugarcane juice was a daily ritual. In those days he wondered why such a nutritious, delicious, all-natural product is sold only on the roadside.

“We have just launched one more outlet in Kilpauk and soon more outlets will be launched in a phased manner,” says Jeevan. We introduce new flavors from time to time, and will launch soon padneer (a diluted sap extracted from the inflorescence of a palm tree).
