“Active Shooter” Situation in Atlanta Building, 1 Dead, 4 Injured

The shooting took place inside a facility at Northside Hospital.

A gunman opened fire inside a medical building in the US city of Atlanta, killing one and wounding four, the Atlanta Police Department said in a series of tweets. The suspect seen in CCTV footage holding a gun has been identified by police as 24-year-old Dion Patterson.

Police Chief Darrin Shirbaum said at a news conference that all of the victims were women and that the shooting took place in the hospital waiting room. Mr. Shirbaum indicated that the shooter’s mother was among the people in the room but that she was not the shooting victim.
